The classic saying "easier said than done" is taking on a whole new meaning in this new single penned and performed by up-and-coming artist Brian Blake. The tune begins with a soft and slow melodic introduction, and sets the scene of someone who's had more than enough advice from others on how he should move on from his current relationship. "I take advice 'cause God knows they're right, but their motivation ain't motivating me tonight" he sings in the first verse before the energy picks up and instruments start to flood in for the chorus. Blake passionately sings about how "they're telling me to run, but I can't even walk" and "the thing that's killing me can't see I'm already dead" before he admits defeat in the summarizing line of the song, saying, "I don't control me anymore." Whether you've felt this way in a relationship you just couldn't seem to quit, or a situation you knew you wasn't good for you but you couldn't work up the courage to leave, the lyrics will resonate with many. The song offers a glimpse of relief and hope with the final verses and chorus, as Blake builds up the courage to sing "so take the dog, the rings, the furniture," "Get your things and don't walk back through that door," and the final jab, "You don't control me." You go, Blake! The song, from Blake's forthcoming album, "Perceptions," is a relatable tune, accompanied by a fresh voice in Country music and a powerful message to carry it home.
